  The Officers and Executives: Vice President for Education - Duxin Sun, Ph.D.
    Dr. Duxin Sun is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, The University of Michigan. He received his Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutics, MS degree in Pharmacology, and a BS degree in Pharmacy. From 2003-2008, Dr. Sun was an Assistant Professor in the College of Pharmacy, The Ohio State University. From 2002-2003, Dr. Sun worked in Bristol-Myers Squibb Company as a research investigator. 1994 -1998, Dr. Sun was a visiting scientist and senior research specialist in the Department of Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University and the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sun has broad background in his research including Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, and Pharmacy. His research focuses are: (A) Nanoparticle “Theranostics” for targeted drug delivery and multimodality tumor imaging. (B) Novel Hsp90 inhibitors to disrupt Hsp90-Cdc37 interaction for cancer therapy. (C) Experimental therapeutics and chemoprevention for cancer stem cells. (D) Pharmacokinetic modeling and drug metabolism in preclinical model and clinical setting for drug discovery and development. Dr. Sun has published actively in peer-reviewed journals with more than 78 published papers, 55 meeting abstracts, 7 book chapters, and 5 US patents. Dr. Sun severed as an ad hoc NIH study section member in various study sections in NIH, FDA, and Cancer Research UK. These include: Xenobiotic and Nutrient Disposition and Action (XNDA) study section; AIDS therapeutics study section; Cancer Drug Development and Therapeutics SBIR study section; and National Cooperative Drug Discovery Groups for Cancer (NCDDG) study section; The FDA Office of Women’s health intramural scientific program; Cancer Research UK; North Carolina Biotechnology Center, Science & Technology Development Program. Dr. Sun served as the Chair-elect and Vice Chair of PPB section in AAPS (2008-2010), Chair of Prodrug Focus Group in AAPS (2007-2008), co-chairs of various symposia in AAPS annual meeting from 2003-2009. Dr. Sun is a member of American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientist (AAPS), American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), and American Association of College of Pharmacy (AACP).
